My book Zarina Divided is out in the world today!
Here are TEN ways you can support authors like me:
- Buy their Book (Pre-orders are great because you are showing the publisher your interest). If you didn’t pre-order, just order the book. It’s never too late! No space on your bookshelf? Buy their e-book or audio book! Buy something! Nothing says you like the author more than actual SALES.
- Review their book (Amazon, Goodreads , your social media). I attended a webinar where we were told to strive to get at least 50 Amazon reviews for visibility.
- Borrow their book from the library (this also helps put it on the librarian’s radar! Bonus points: Talk to the librarian about their book.)
- Donate a book to a classroom or Little Free Library
- Feeling generous? Donate a class set of books to a classroom or a school library (see #18 for bulk orders.)!
- Talk about their book. Celebrate their successes!* Writing and publishing can be isolating.
- Reach out to the author and tell them you liked their book! Even better, send the author a photo of a person reading the book or fan mail. Or if you see their book in the wild (think airport! bookstore! top shelf of the library! TAKE THE PHOTO AND SEND IT. Us authors wish we could be everywhere but, alas we can’t)
My book spotted in a FLL (Fort Lauderdale airport). Thank you Munzir Naqvi for the photo!
8. Interview an author (I love my recent interview with Heidi Fiedler on how motherhood and creativity intersect.)
9. Invite an author for an author visit. You can see my Speaker Profile and invite me on here ( I am being selective with what author visits I am committing to these days as I have a 2 year old at home.)
10. Try to go to their book launch in person or virtually! Signed copies here

*Here’s a success I am especially proud of, this and the fact that this story is loosely inspired by my real grandmother Zarina’s story :
