“Everyone has a ‘best friend’ during each stage of life- only a precious few have the same one.” – Anonymous.
So the month of Ramadan is over, which meant Muslims around the world celebrated Eid (Eid Mubarak to those who celebrate Eid!) One of my best friends Salma wanted a quick, impromptu photoshoot, so I had to say yes! And I loved the colors she wore on Eid.
When photographing a good friend, you already know what angles work for them, and what photos they pop in. What I like about this photoshoot is that we tried some new angles and Salma glows in all! Salma and I were friends in highschool and later moved on to becoming college roommates. Needless to say, we’ve taken bunches of photos of each other.
When photographing clients, if I’m Facebook friends with them, I often try to take a quick look at their Facebook profile page and see what type of photos they put of themselves. This helps me see a trend in what photos they like of themselves. That doesn’t mean I will only take their style of photos, but it is nice to know! Each photographer has a unique perspective. With a good friend, you know their best photos, so it can be challenging as you want to try to step out of your comfort zone and try new angles/poses/photography! I really like how Salma’s photos turned out as I feel these differ slightly from the previous ones we’ve taken from our last photoshoot.
If you’re wondering what Salma’s origin is, her mother is Moroccan and her father is from Afghanistan. And Salma is proud to be American born and raised. It’s always interesting when people ask where she’s from as she usually tells them to guess; so far I don’t think anyone’s guessed right!
I pasted in my favorites and made a gallery of the remaining images. Enjoy!
No Parking – photoshoot in progress!
She works the above angle really well, so I had to throw this one in for good measure.
I like that we have the above photo – when photographing good friends we can tend to stay in a comfort zone, but it’s always good to change it up a little bit.
this is how she laughs so happy we got a natural photo – natural photos are the best! the above one is my favorite!
I wanted her face to pop so took out the color so we could focus on just her.
