Behind every working woman is an enormous pile of unwashed laundry. ~ Barbara Dale.
“Are you sure you don’t want to do it yourself? It’ll cost just $8 and probably take an hour and a half…”
I hesitate and glance at the gleaming stainless steel machines, and then at Z.
“Actually it’s ok…you can do it. I don’t have time.” I need to rush back to baby A and I’d rather do something else with my time.
And with that Z and I drop off 30, yes 30!, pounds of laundry divided in 3 garbage bags and scurry off to the library.
Z sitting on the floor with her backpack reading!
In the library, we return with maybe 2 lbs of books and sans laundry, feeling light both physically and in heart!
The next day I pay more than $8 but get to pick up my clothes which are folded compactly and so neatly I’m in awe. Even baby A’s bibs are folded!
Having a washing machine stop working led to laundry back up which in turn led to the laundry splurge, which was totally worth it! It’s nice to know that if I get too behind in laundry I can always go ‘Midtown Wash – a spa for clothes.’
A new machine is in place thankfully to husband and helpful brothers lugging it upstairs(I am blessed with 3!) so hoping for some more clean laundry in the future!
O Children of Adam, we have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as an adornment. But the clothing of righteousness – that is best. That is from the signs of God that perhaps they will remember. ~ Quran 7:26

Reminds me, my load finished a while ago … love the idea you had a bit of a holiday due to the washing machine disaster – and it sounds as though you needed it 🙂
Happy New Year 🙂
Thanks ! I needed the break! Happy new year to you too!
